It’s kind of funny how garden stores can get away with charging us a fortune for a pre-made bee house that’s basically just some sticks. But they look really pretty, so we’re like, okay, fine, give it to me. So this is me taking that power back into my own hands and making a very easy DIY bee house at home for way less money, and it’s probably way more adorable.

Honestly this is a very self explanatory craft project, just any hollow sticks and some twine will do. But I wanted to make this super appealing to beneficial solitary bees so I stuck with bamboo in different sizes. You cut the bamboo sticks into varying lengths, making sure they’re nice and clean inside. Then, you just bundle them up tightly with the twine. You can make little bundles and then tie those bundles together to make a bigger one. It’s super easy, and you don’t have to be super precise. You just want them to be snug little tunnels for the bees to lay their eggs in. It’s easy to, like, hang up in your garden or tuck in between some branches, so you can save your garden store money for more plants instead. You can thank me later. Here’s to a happy little bee community in your backyard, and I hope you try it!
