You can help protect pollinators like bees and butterflies with a simple DIY garden watering station - here’s how:
When things start heating up in the garden, it’s important to give the beneficial bugs who help our garden grow a little extra support so they can stay cool
I’m a girl who likes options so there’s three ways I like to provide water for my bug friends. You basically just need any shallow container that will let the bugs get to the water easily without getting stuck in it, with a bunch of random things like sticks and rocks for them to land on and crawl around. I like to use a plant saucer on top of an upside down pot, but you can also use the lid from a tub of yogurt or even a glass pie plate. The best way to make sure the bugs can find your watering station is by placing in a sunny spot that isn’t very windy. Keep your dish topped off with fresh water and you can even add some fresh flowers to get the bugs attention and make your watering hole extra pretty. I like to use small flowers that are just past their prime for this as they won’t last long before they end up in the compost anyway. Will you build a watering station for your pollinators?
