I don’t attend an Ivy League university, so I thought it was impossible to break into a Big Tech company like Microsoft.

When I was a freshman, I kept on seeing internship announcement posts from other freshmen who attend Ivy League and top universities.

I was so discouraged.

I had just been rejected from all my dream Ivy League universities the year prior...

...and I had already gotten rejected by 100+ tech internships.

I thought to myself, there is no way companies will choose a non-top university applicant over thousands of top university applicants.

But it wasn’t true.

Because I won hackathons, created tech content consistently, made myself visible on LinkedIn, created a personal website, and designed/coded software projects...

...until I finally got that one “Congrats!” email from my dream company, Microsoft.

This then led me to complete 3 Microsoft Internships throughout my college experience and accept a full-time return offer as a Microsoft PM. 🥹

So in reality...

You don’t need to come from a top school to land your dream internship.

You don’t need to come from a family of connections to land your dream internship.

You just need to keep applying,  keep improving how your market yourself, and keep being bold until you finally get that one “yes.”
