Here are 3 important tips that helped me land my dream interviews, internships, and full-time job at Microsoft ⬇️

✅ Build a strong personal brand both online and in-person

Having a personal brand doesn’t necessarily mean being a content creator or posting every day. It means how you present yourself, whether it be online or in-person.

Fully fill out all sections of your LinkedIn profile. Create a strong elevator pitch for recruiters at in-person conferences. Build a personal portfolio with past projects that you can talk about in interviews.

✅ Treat recruiters and hiring managers (and everyone!) with respect, kindness, and professionalism

When I went to a career conference last year, I saw people crowding around recruiters and shoving resumes in front of their face, yelling “I want the interview!”

Remember that everyone is still a human being, whether they are a recruiter, a hiring manager, intern, or anyone else. Be mindful of everyone’s time, energy, and boundaries both online and in-person.

✅ Be knowledgeable in at least one product and one value at each company you’re interviewing for

Do your research on the company. Especially if you’re interviewing for PM roles, knowing at least one of each company’s product can be crucial. You might even have to do a product teardown or product strategy question on one of their products.
