1. Tomatoes
Cold temperatures kill their flavour and make them mealy.👉 Keep them on the counter, stem side down.

2. Potatoes
The fridge turns their starch into sugar faster, which affects taste and texture (and makes them brown oddly when cooked).👉 Store in a cool, dark, well-ventilated place.

3. Onions
Moisture in the fridge makes them soft and moldy.👉 Store in a dry, ventilated basket, not in plastic bags.
⚠️ Exception: Once cut, refrigerate.

4. Garlic
Cold air can cause sprouting and rubbery texture.👉 Keep in a dry, airy container.

5. Bread
The fridge actually makes bread go stale faster.👉 Keep at room temp, or freeze if you won’t use it quickly.

6. Honey
It crystallizes faster in the fridge.👉 Store tightly sealed in a cupboard.

7. Avocados (Unripe)
The fridge slows ripening dramatically.👉 Keep on the counter until ripe, then refrigerate if needed.

8. Bananas
Cold air blackens the peel and messes with ripening.👉 Keep on the counter, away from other fruit if you want to slow ripening.

9. Hot Sauce
Most commercial hot sauces are shelf-stable because of vinegar content.👉 Pantry is usually fine (check label).

10. Melons (Whole)
Whole melons lose flavour in the fridge.👉 Keep whole on the counter. Refrigerate after cutting.

11. Nutella & Similar Chocolate Spreads
They harden and become difficult to spread.👉 Pantry storage works best.
