❣️♿️Democratic Socialist @zohrankmamdani is the projected winner to be the new Mayor of NYC —> here’s what it means for disabled people

@zohrankmamdani did not need to center disability in his campaign, his policies speak for themselves. Which is why I LOVE @demsocialists

🚌Fast and Free busses allow people to get rides to doctors appointments, therapy, treatments, and more!!

🏠Supporting Tenant protection: Disabled tenants are more vulnerable to displacement, now they will have more power over their own and dignity.
🏠Building Accessible Affordable Housing: Disabled people face a huge challenge finding and affording accessible housing. This is BIG as disabled people pay 28% more for basic needs than others.

It gets EVEN BETTER—>
🩺New York Health Act: As Assemblyman, Zohran Mamdani championed single payer healthcare for the city. This makes healthcare affordable no matter where or how you work. This gives everyone the chance to get the bare minimum they need to thrive.

🏦Economic Justice: Living Wage Policies. Disabled people on SSI/SSDI legally cannot have more than $2,000 saved or we lose benefits AND healthcare. That limit hasn’t changed since 1989. We’re kept poor by design. Living wage policies + single-payer healthcare mean disabled people can actually work, save, and build a life without choosing between healthcare and survival. This is what economic justice looks like.

This is what happens when you elect someone who understands that liberation is collective. Disabled New Yorkers just won. 💙♿️ #DisabilityJustice #DSA #NYC
