Our attachments to the stories we tell about our life, is directly rooted in an external expectation or perception of disappointment that the world projected onto us through our initial domestication as children.

When we learn to detach from the fear of disappointing others, we start to lose our attachments to our victim stories.

When we are no longer attached to our victim stories, we will eventually release the expectations we have of ourselves welcoming in more nuanced acceptance to our imperfections.

When we release expectations of ourselves, we will no longer live as a victim to our circumstances. We start to exit from the ideology that everything always goes wrong for me or something is wrong with me, and we shift into everything is happening for me.

Our attachments formulate our early identity, even those attachments to our abuse stories. We never deserved how we were acted upon, or what happened to us as being acted upon. So shedding the identity of being a survivor can also feel at times like we are denying the experiences that happened to us. Finding equilibrium between identity states is how we move forward, one identity cannot exist without the other.

When we are no longer a victim to our circumstances, we step into the unlearning of our domestications and embrace a conscious creation of a life worth celebrating, and more importantly, a life worth living for ourselves and not by the attachments (whether inflicted upon us or projected onto us).

The realization that our attachments no longer serve as obligations to anyone else leans into giving ourselves permission to update outdated systems and replace wounded attachment identities with authentic and sovereign being.
