The previous ten years of various therapeutic modalities were a solid foundation to the experiences I’ve had in 2023, however PAT has been life altering as far as getting past some deep seated trauma.

I have been reading @gabormatemd for a few years but it wasn’t until I picked up The Myth of Normal and re-read The Body Keeps the Score by @bessel_van for the 5th time that I started to research Psychedelic Assisted Therapy from a more open minded perspective.

I believed in the power of the ptsd studies mentioned in The Body Keeps the Score the very first time I read about them in 2013. My journey to this integration has been a decade coming, and has completely turned my world upside down, in beautiful transformational ways.

There has been an extensive amount of personal work I’ve put into healing from abuse and in starting on my own path into working in the mental health field. I’ve been considering a masters and PhD for about seven years, but didn’t have the right set of circumstances to pursue it. The pandemic changed everything with regards to accessible high level programs, as well as online certifications with additional availability.

While researching PAT I started to really dive into Gabor Mate’s speaking engagements when I discovered he offered a training for Compassionate Inquiry. Ironically the PAT integration coach I started working with was also completing the CI training when I had started working with her.

While Compassionate Inquiry as a standalone is an outstanding therapeutic modality, integrating PAT with it has been some of the hardest and yet most rewarding work I’ve done to date.

One can successfully have powerful breakthroughs with Compassionate Inquiry alone, I just happened upon both modalities at the same time.

If you have questions about what the two look like together feel free to ask anonymously in my stories and I’ll answer what I can about my own experience.
