## Caption

In a thumbs up or down world, I’d give it the slightest of thumbs ups. Incredibly safe to the point of it not being satisfying. It has its moments, but I’d already felt the stakes not being there and this finale just didn’t feel like a climatic end to a good story.

The more I’m thinking on it the more I’m kind of underwhelmed. The first four episodes set up some high stakes and by the end of it I just didn’t feel anything about the story. I really believe there was supposed to be something larger and for a 3 year wait to get a season that doesn’t push any boundaries to the story is super disappointing in my eyes.

It still has its moments, whether it be the the Vecna entrance scene or the the beautiful final scene that really brought back the emotions that were missing, but to me it’s overshadowed by the baffling decisions this season makes to come to a complete conclusion. 

In a story where the main theme is friendship and feelings, I didn’t feel anything by the end of this. Compared to the other seasons it feels like a weightless journey that culminates in an anticlimactic final showdown that left me saying “that’s it?”.

Out of all of the seasons as well it was very hard to get past the writing. Not to say this show has the greatest writing in tv history, but man this was too noticeable for me to forgive. People are saying cringe but the word I would use is unnatural, for the story and for the characters. Acting wise as well most of the cast was solid minus a few rotten eggs here and there. But no matter how good the acting could have been, the way the script was written was always going to get in the way of creating something special and that’s what happened here. 

While I’m not one who is straight bashing on the final season, as there are great things here to like, it’s hard to focus on those good elements when the rest of it just feels directionless and lacking any stakes or emotion. Is it “satisfying”? In a way, yes. But does it wrap everything up in a way that felt like an enjoyable experience? It did until it didn’t.
