On June 5th, we stood at Lou Gehrig Plaza alongside our incredible thebxpuertoricanparade board and 2025 Royal Court as we were recognized and celebrated during the 2nd Annual Puerto Rican Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by Bronx Borough President msvanessa77 bronxbpgibson in partnership with bronxprparade & nationalpuertoricandayparade.

This year’s powerful theme, “Plantando Bandera (Planting Roots),” 🪴🇵🇷 is a reminder of the generations of Puerto Ricans who built legacies in the Bronx - from activism to artistry, food to family. We are living proof of their strength, resilience, and spirit. We are here. AND the flag raised was and IS the appropriate representation, our LIGHT blue waving in the wind for the month of June with beautiful intention! 

Being part of this cultural moment, standing tall with our flag waving high, and receiving a proclamation honoring our heritage is deeply significant. This event officially kicks off a season of celebration, pride, and unity ✊🏽leading us  into the 60th National Puerto Rican Day Parade prparade this Sunday, and our Bronx parade the following Sunday! 🪘🎶💃🏽

Muchísimas  gracias to our community, our leaders, our Puerto Rican and Latino leaders in positions of power reminding us of why representation matters. To all who continue to uplift our cultura with love and pride through their energy, commitment and presence, we are stronger together. Let’s keep planting roots for the next generation to lead con fuerza y corazón!
