The Fashion Portion of the 39th Annual thebxpuertoricanparade Cultural Pageant 🇵🇷took place this past Saturday. On that day in history- March 22, 1873, the Spanish National Assembly finally abolished slavery in Puerto Rico. 

🏆🥇 I placed first in the Señorita category representing my grandmother’s hometown Guanica with my heart. I could feel her presence beaming with pride as radiantly as I was. 

A quote I love to live that empowers me tremendously in the pursuit of my passions is, “Be The Miracle Your Ancestors Prayed For”. I keep a post-it note that my boyfriend had wrote to me on the back of my phone case to carry with me daily that says “Keep making your ancestors proud” to remember my purpose.

I’m guided and aligned with my calling as I represent who I am through the strength they embodied. I am the woman I have flourished into because of how proudly I advocate for my comunidad, how loudly I share my authentic identity, how invested I am in learning more deeply about my individualized roots and culture to ensure our stories are persevered, and voices are amplified.

This experience allows me to immerse myself fully into educating myself on my Pueblo AND the hometown of all the incredible Boricua contestants representing as well. I’m abundantly excited to continue this journey alongside beautiful energy and my Puerto Rican familia aquí en el Bronx, Nueva York con muchísimas orgullo y corazón!
