If you’ve been wanting to see the wildflower blooms at Anza-Borrego State Park in San Diego County, this is your sign to go today, March 1, 2026. 🌼🌵

These clips are from our visit Spring 2024. I wanted to make it down to the desert so badly this weekend, but between ski trips and our kids’ activities, I realized we needed a rest weekend at home. Still, as someone who’s experienced these blooms three times in the last few years with my kids and family, I wanted to share this info and inspo for those of you in SoCal who might be up for a little road trip. 🩷

I’ve checked Facebook groups, California wildflower forums, current posts, and cross-referenced them with park updates, to make sure what I’m sharing reflects what you’re likely to see right now. That said, the last few days have been extremely hot (temps pushing 97–100°), and the heat has caused some areas to wilt quickly. It sounds like there are still several areas to check out, but if you’ve been waiting to go … I wouldn’t push it out further. 

A few tips to help you find and enjoy the blooms responsibly 🌼🌼🌼:
• Visit https://abdnha.org/blooms/ for the latest updates on where blooms are strongest and a wildflower map (or comment BLOOM and I’ll DM the link to you).
• Bring more water than you think you’ll need. Cell service is unreliable in and around the park.
• Park in designated areas and be considerate of locals who live nearby.
• Please practice Leave No Trace.  Take photos, not flowers. 🌼
• Drone use is prohibited.
If possible, go or stay until dusk. it’s cooler, less crowded, and the light is pure magic.

Wildflower season is fleeting, and that’s part of what makes it so special. If you can go… go. ✨
