We did our first ski trip to Ogden Valley in 2023… and loved it so much we’ve come back EVERY year with my brother’s family too! 🙌 These days we rent a larger Airbnb so everyone can stay together, but we still love our routine: a couple days at Snowbasin Resort and one day at Powder Mountain.

Why Ogden Valley?

✔️ Less crowded than Park City
✔️ Easy to get to, about one hour from SLC airport 
✔️ Incredible terrain
✔️ Relaxed, family-friendly vibe
✔️More affordable lodging — we stayed in a deluxe Airbnb for 8 people with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, full kitchen, washer/ dryer and a private hot tub for under $400/night

Here’s our original 3-day / long weekend Ogden Valley ski itinerary from our first trip in case you want to copy part (or all) of it👇

Day 1
✈️ Fly into Salt Lake City International Airport after work/school (evening arrival)
🚗 Pick up rental car with AWD + ski racks
Stay : Best Western Plus Canyon Pines (first night)

Day 2
🧇 Complimentary breakfast at the BW
🎿 Ski snowbasinresort (30-min drive)
🫕 Lunch on the mountain at Cinnabar
Stay : compassroselodge (next 2 nights) in Huntsville
✨ Don’t miss their guided observatory experience — you can stargaze through a professional telescope and learn about the night sky

Day 3
☕️ Coffee + complimentary breakfast at the lodge
⛷️ Ski powdermountain (25-min drive)
🍜 Lunch on the mountain at Powder Keg
🌮 Dinner in Eden at carlos_and_harleys

Day 4
🚗 Head to the Salomon Center for indoor skydiving at iflyutah Ogden
🍕 Lunch at Slackwater Pizza and Pub
Head back to SLC for a late afternoon flight home

Extra Tips
🎿 Snowbasin is on the ikonpass — we shared Friends & Family passes with my brother
🎿 Powder Mountain is included in the skiutah Passport program, which allows 4th, 5th, and 6th graders to ski 3 days at 15 Utah resorts, including Powder Mountain, for a small fee (approx. $69–$89)
