We visited the Terracotta Warriors in Xi’an over spring break — but did you know you can see them in California right now too?! 😮
📌 Save this post if you love history and culture and make plans to check this out!

Seeing the Xi’an terracotta soldiers was definitely a top highlight of this trip to China. Over 8,000 life-size clay soldiers, each with UNIQUE features, were created more than 2,200 years ago to guard China’s first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in the afterlife. This incredible underground army is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.

While I highly recommend seeing the real thing in Xi’an one day (just look at the scale of the pit in the second slide! 😱), I’ve got good news for my SoCal friends:

You don’t need a passport to see them — the “World of the Terracotta Warriors” exhibit is now at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana through October 19, 2025! This exhibit features over 100 authentic artifacts from China’s Shaanxi province, including newly unearthed warriors, chariots, and treasures from the emperor’s vast tomb complex.

If you’re interested in visiting China, follow #wongsvisitchina and check out my saved Xi’an and Chengdu Story Highlights! We explored both cities with lostplatefoodtours and their local English-speaking guides, and we cannot recommend them enough!
