joshportman 👉 So we’re just a few weeks out from our summer tour with New Found Glory and Plain White T’s.

Looking back on some of our fondest memories with New Found (both on stage and off stage) from me living in Nashville for the last 12 years and Chad living in Franklin, Tennessee (where I lived for five of those years), I got really close to him during that time. Cyrus joined us on tour playing drums, doing a tour back in… God, what year was that? 2013 when we toured together last? 2014? Just so many great moments and some of our favorite people in the whole world.

In light of us both having new albums and doing this tour together, I would pick this one memory: almost exactly a year to the day from the beginning of this tour, on May 6th, I got a text from Chad asking me if I wanted to come down to the studio to do some gang vocals with them. This was when they were recording their brand new, amazing album. They were recording down in Franklin, so I was like, ‘Yeah, dude, of course.’

I headed down there and all of our Nashville buds were there: Anthony from Bayside, Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional. All these dudes who actually really know how to sing, and then me, who doesn’t. But gang vocals? Whatever, I’m just shouting, right?

I heard the new songs for the very first time and was completely blown away. It was just so New Found, but so riffy and awesome as usual. I was just stoked to hear it in general. Then it was just like, ‘Okay, here’s the vocal,’ and it was all of us on this microphone. Just singing next to Chris Carrabba. It wasn’t scary at all. 

I did four or five of the songs and it was just a really, really fun afternoon. I’m so pumped that they put out such a fantastic record almost at the same time as us, and now we get to tour them together. It’s going to be an awesome summer, so please come out. The first show is May 6th and we go until June 17th in the US. It’s going to be awesome, and our buds in Plain White T’s are also opening.

Yeah, let’s party.
