Es fácil confundir el aumento del nivel del mar 🌊 con otros eventos naturales como las marejadas, las inundaciones temporeras o hasta la erosión. Sin embargo, a pesar de que estos factores sí pueden contribuir a que sea más notable, no son realmente la causa. La razón principal del aumento del nivel del mar en la actualidad es la acumulación en la atmósfera de los gases de efecto invernadero 💨. 

El vapor de agua, uno de estos gases, se acumula y contribuye a aumentar la temperatura dentro de la atmósfera del planeta 🌎 . En los frascos en la imagen podemos ver cómo se muestra la atmósfera artificial y la condensación acumulada en las paredes del cristal. ¡Puedes hacer el experimento en casa! 🌿 

Se pronostica que Puerto Rico experimente un alza en los niveles del mar de aproximadamente 12 pulgadas para mediados de este siglo (XXI).

It's easy to confuse sea-level rise 🌊 with other natural events such as tidal waves, temporary flooding or even erosion. Although these factors can contribute to making it more noticeable, they are not really the cause. The main reason for the rise in sea level today is the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere 💨.

Water vapor, one of these gases, accumulates and contributes in increasing the temperature within the planet's atmosphere 🌎 . In the jars, shown in the image, we can see how the artificial atmosphere and the condensation accumulates on the glass. You can do the experiment at home! 🌿

Puerto Rico is forecasted to experience a rise in sea levels by approximately 12 inches in the middle of this century (XXI).
