#HumansofSUP | Natalia Bigay Llenza is the co-founder of @banquetealo from #TSF10. Her start-up connects companies to local caterers. ‘When Hurricane Maria hit Puerto Rico, I decided that I should do what I want since any day could be the last day of my life. That is how Banquetéalo was born!

Having interned in many start-ups before Hurricane Maria, I knew I already was an entrepreneur. I simply love seeing something grow from nothing! But this tragedy made me realise that this was my moment to start my own thing. At that time, I worked as an event coordinator, where I struggled finding catering for each event. From communication to payment, the process was painful. I also worked in a family restaurant with my twin sister; I was in the kitchen while she was attending the customers. We saw the struggle from the side of the restaurant and the side of the event coordinator. I thus founded an all-women start-up that really matched with the TSF program I applied to shortly after!

I am very proud to represent Puerto Rico in Chile – and I am already inspiring other entrepreneurs in my country to join Start-Up Chile. Women entrepreneurs, you can’t fake believing in yourself! To me, it is challenging, but I often say to myself: “After Hurricane Maria, I can do anything!”
