If you have to run discount sales all the time just to keep cash coming in, you almost always have a brand problem.
ㅤ
And there’s a simple framework you can use to fix it.
ㅤ
I call it the Three C Method, and if you’re in automotive or any enthusiast-driven category, it matters a lot.
ㅤ
I say that as someone who’s spent the last six years in automotive marketing working with 9 and 10 figure brands.
ㅤ
Here it is:
ㅤ
1. Connections
ㅤ
A brand is only as valuable as the things people associate with it.
ㅤ
You need to build connections between your brand and the things your customers care about.
ㅤ
That could be celebrities, races, events, places, emotions, lifestyles, or experiences.
ㅤ
The goal is to create a web of meaning around your brand.
ㅤ
2. Creative
ㅤ
Once you know what you want your brand associated with, creative is how you tell that story.
ㅤ
This is your organic content, paid ads, campaign, etc..
ㅤ
Good creative does two jobs at once.
ㅤ
It helps sell the product today, and it builds the brand world that makes future sales easier.
ㅤ
That’s why brands like WeatherTech and Thule are so effective.
ㅤ
Even at scale, they’re still reinforcing identity through creative.
ㅤ
3. Community
ㅤ
This is the big one.
ㅤ
Community turns customers into fans.
ㅤ
Forums. Events. Meetups. Shared identity. Anything that brings your buyers together around something bigger than the transaction.
ㅤ
Once that happens, your brand stops being a logo people recognize and becomes an identity.
ㅤ
That’s when pricing power changes.
ㅤ
So the framework is this:
ㅤ
Build connections around your brand.
ㅤ
Use creative to communicate them.
ㅤ
Use community to make them stick.
ㅤ
Do that well, and you stop relying on discounts to create demand.
ㅤ
Because strong brands don’t need to beg for attention.
