1. Assume every call is an evaluation
Every networking call is an interview, whether it feels explicit or not. Show up prepared and don’t treat informational calls like throwaway conversations.

2. Find a real connection
Hometown, school, mutual friend, shared interest, anything. Even a small point of overlap makes people much more likely to respond and help.

3. Ask informed questions
Know their group, know their background, and ask questions that prove you did your homework. “How do I get into IB?” is lazy. “How does your group’s deal mix affect junior reps?” is memorable.

Getting the call is one thing. Converting it is the real skill.
