The Founding Fathers had defeated tyranny and understood that the first step to tyranny was to disarm the people. They created the Second Amendment to protect Americans from having their right to self-defense from man and tyranny stripped away by the government. The Founders knew the government did not give the people this right, the Second Amendment stands as the guardian of that right. It's more than ink on paper, it's a principle that has been enshrined into our very nation.
