From the archive: outtakes/closeups from my shoot of Joan Rivers’ incredible penthouse, per your requests! I think these tell the story even better than the glamorous shots of the living spaces. In order: typewritten jokes on categorized index cards on the floor of the primary bedroom (the one on top is about Cher!), boas and furs and beads, a silver cup engraved with “Joan” holding makeup, a painting easel in the primary bathroom suite and on its accompanying stool an overflowing folder inscribed “jokes to mark,” a detail of the multilayered canopy bed and finally...those signature jackets—the one with the ruffled collar is unforgettable!
