✨ Graduation isn’t just about walking across a stage—it’s about everything it took to get here. Late nights, early mornings, tears, laughter, and the people who lifted us up. I have been through it all, and through it, I found myself.

When I got to Grambling in 2019, I had no idea what was ahead. A girl from the city, to a school in the middle of nowhere. I never knew what an HBCU was until my junior year of high school. We don’t have any in California so it was never really talked about, but the day I was accepted to Grambling, I knew this is where I wanted to be. As I reflect on my journey at Grambling State University, I am filled with immense gratitude.

First, to my mom—thank you for being my rock, my biggest cheerleader, and my constant source of strength. Your love and sacrifices have carried me through every step of this journey. This is for you. You are my biggest inspiration. You have given me the confidence, passion, and strive to be who I wanna be. Thank you for never giving up on me, on yourself, on us. To my professors, specifically Dr. Blackman and Dr. Palacios; thank you for challenging me, guiding me, and believing in my potential. Your dedication to my growth made all the difference. And to my friends, thank you for the laughs, late-nights, and unforgettable memories. I couldn’t have asked for a better group to experience this chapter of life with. I’m so appreciative for the life long friends Grambling has provided me with. I love yall 🤍

The last picture, my guardian angels. PTown I think about you everyday and how I won’t be hearing “congratulations kiddo” 💔😭 I can’t believe the last time I saw you was my high school graduation, and now I’m graduating college. Papa I’m so happy you were able to come to my high school graduation as well, I know if you were here you’d say “come on give me some sugar” and kiss me on the cheek and say how proud you are. Grandma, I love you, I know you would have loved to see me graduate. I hope I’m making you guys proud, please continue to watch over and guide me through this next chapter of my life.🤍
