TFI Friday gets Channel 4 return with Chris Evans – with first guests revealed!

Wild '90s entertainment show TFI Friday is returning to Channel 4 this week, and the broadcaster has confirmed which stars will be joining host Chris Evans for the first episode.

The show actually returned weeks ago as a YouTube show called TFI Unplugged on the Virgin Radio UK channel, but Channel 4 have signed a deal to broadcast new episodes on Friday nights at 11pm. The first of six new episodes on its original home will air this Friday, 17 April.

The guests for the first episode are: Sam Ryder, Shreya Ghoshal, Jack Savoretti, Sindhu Vee, Gemma Arterton, Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo.

Channel 4's commissioning editor for reality entertainment Cimran Shah said: "TFI Friday was doing stripped-back, personality-led chat long before visualised podcasts were a twinkle in our eyes!

"I'm thrilled that this deal brings TFI back to Channel 4, reimagined in a way that feels fresh, immediate and perfectly suited for a new generation wherever they watch Channel 4."

News UK's director of audio and news broadcasting, Dennie Morris, added: "TFI Friday is one of those rare formats that never really left the cultural conversation, and we're proud to see this iconic title - and the genius of Chris Evans - find its way back to Channel 4 reimagined through Virgin Radio UK's TFI Unplugged.

"We look forward to audiences rediscovering what made the show so special, wherever and however they choose to watch."

TFI Friday Unplugged will air on Friday nights at 11pm on Channel 4 for the next six weeks. Episodes will also be streaming on the Channel 4 service and the broadcaster's YouTube channel. Previous episodes are available on the Virgin Radio UK channel.

Classic episodes from the original series are available on the TFI Friday YouTube channel.
