Believe it or not, there are plenty of ⚽ fans in the 🏈 crazy state of Alabama!

Meet Parker Jones, a officialafcb fan and recent graduate of Auburn University who also enjoyed playing college rugby.

Parker grew up on a small farm in Gallant, Alabama, a town of fewer than 900 people, and got exposed to the sport by playing the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa video game when he was about six or seven years old.

He enjoyed playing career mode, which led him to find the Cherries when they were in League One. Over time, he became accustomed to the club, and the tight-knit community on the South Coast felt like home.

Moving to nearby Ashville solidified his passion for footy, as he recruited some of his friends to play pickup games with him and the growing Hispanic population that worked in town for half of the year.

Parker, a multi-sport athlete in high school, decided to attend Auburn University just over two hours south but not pursue playing sports.

Soon the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and he was left at home to see Bournemouth relegated from the #PL in their 130th season.

However, that time in quarantine brought him closer to the club as they earned promotion back to the top flight.

When he returned to campus, he wanted to be involved and successfully made the rugby team. Parker now had the British duo of playing rugby and watching Bournemouth when he was off.

Parker has to battle his coach, a Manchester United fan, his brother Carter, an Arsenal fan, among those who are all confused about how he landed on the Cherries.

Yet, Parker would not have it any other way.

"I cannot wait to go overseas with Carter for the first time to watch a match or two. Now with American ownership at Bournemouth, maybe the club can take a leap and even bring in some American players!

The small-club feeling could turn people away from the Cherries, but I hope American support and continued success in the league will lead others to join me in our small community on the South Coast, where you always feel like you’re a part of the action."
