US President Donald Trump said Iran is “in very bad shape” as he spoke to reporters on Sunday.⁣

"I think Iran is in very bad shape. I think they're very desperate,” Trump said. “We had a meeting that lasted 21 hours. We understand the situation better than anybody. And Iran's in very bad shape."⁣

Trump indicated that the ceasefire with Iran was "holding well" and  that the U.S. Navy would commence a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz from 10 a.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Monday, 13 April.⁣

Following Trump’s remarks, an Iranian Armed Forces spokesperson said that US restrictions on vessels in international waters was illegal and "amounts to piracy", and said Iran would decisively implement a "permanent mechanism" to control the Strait of Hormuz.⁣
