patttten, a London-based producer and artist, used a text-to-sound program to create the samples on his latest full-length album Mirage FM.

Mirage FM is, crucially, not AI-generated; but what patten has done with Mirage FM is far more traditional: a play on the experimental collage genre of musique concrete using music that was created by a neural network.

"[I want] to try and use these tools as a way to interrogate the way that we engage with images [and] how we actually engage with each other and the world and society," he says.
