POV: BRUV Episode 4 - Octopus Punch

When that one fish gets out of line, the octopus steps in to handle it. 💪

A 2024 study (not affiliated with Pristine Seas) suggests that octopus may “punch” slower swimming fish - like the grouper seen here - to keep them moving during a group hunt. We spotted this interaction on one of our remote underwater cameras in Fiji. 🐙

Baited remote underwater video systems (BRUVs) are a scientific surveying tool that uses unmanned high-definition cameras to spot and record species on a reef. In this #POVBRUV series, we leave the humans behind and watch what happens.
