When Jonathan Quick first signed with the #Rangers during the 2023 offseason, it was natural for fans to have mixed feelings. Almost a decade earlier, he was at the center of a Los Angeles Kings team that broke our hearts in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.

Now, three years later, Quick ends his #NHL career with the team he grew up cheering for; the #NewYorkRangers.

Before coming to #NewYork, the 40-year-old already had a plethora of accolades to back up his legendary career:

Three Stanley Cup championships
Two Jennings Trophies
Conn Smythe Trophy

With all that and more under his belt, Quick STILL managed to make history on Broadway. Whether it was reaching 400 career wins, becoming the winningest goaltender in American history and appearing in 800 career games, he is forever part of Rangers history.

Quick could’ve easily called it a career after the 2024-25 season and nobody would’ve blamed him. At the time, a then 39-year-old was coming off a season where the team missed the playoffs and already won almost everything under the sun, including the Players’ Player Award the season prior AND the Mr. Ranger Award, but he wanted to be here for one last ride.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen someone who still had such a passion for the game and would willingly start a bench clearing brawl, get into scrums regularly and simply just defend his teammates the way that Jonathan Quick did almost two decades after making his debut. 

Ten years ago, most NYR fans would’ve probably told you that they hated Jonathan Quick. Now? I doubt that’s the case.

Thank you for three memorable seasons in New York, Jonathan! Wishing you nothing but the best in retirement and will look forward to your Hall of Fame induction!
