Who knew this was even an option?! ⤵️

Parent training and support is an actual service (typically under "related services") that can be written into your child's IEP...

And if you've never heard of it, trust me when I say - you are not alone!!

Just like anything in your child's IEP, if the IEP team determines that it's a necessary support for your child to access a Free and Appropriate Public Education, it can be added! 

This means that the school would provide YOU with the resources, coaching, or training necessary to help you support your child's needs at home.

So, what could this look like?

✨ parent will receive 30 min/month training meeting with the speech therapist to support child’s use of their AAC device at home
✨ parent will receive 30-60 min training from the behavior team anytime the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is updated to review and implement consistently across home and school environments
✨parent will receive a 45-60 minute consultation at the start of each semester on strategies to support homework completion and executive functioning at home, including use of checklists, visual schedules, and task breakdowns

And those are just a few of unlimited possibilities depending on your child's needs!
