If you ever find yourself in La Paz, make time for the Cholita wrestlers, because nothing quite matches the energy of these women stepping into the ring in full traditional skirts and taking the crowd with them. 
The shows have become a cultural and sporting spectacle rooted in Aymara and Quechua tradition. Women wrestle in pollera skirts in bouts shaped by lucha libre, which means there is always a técnica and a ruda, a hero and a villain. 
The matches mix movement, theatre and humour and have settled into a weekly ritual in the city.
