🇨🇺 Celia Cruz is posthumously making history once again as the first Cuban and first primarily Spanish-language artist to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The institution announced its Class of 2026 inductees on Monday Night, revealing that the Queen of Salsa is being honored with the Early Influence Award, which recognizes musicians “whose innovative styles have propelled cultural change.” 

“Today, the Queen of Salsa takes her rightful place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2026,” Omer Pardillo Cid, executor of the Celia Cruz Estate, wrote on Instagram. From Havana to the global stage, this moment belongs to every generation that has danced, cried, and celebrated with her music.”

Previous Latine inductees include Santana (1998), Ritchie Valens (2001), Linda Ronstadt (2014), Joan Baez (2016), and Zack de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine (2023).
