I'm very saddened to learn the passing of Joey Moss (1963-2020) - a longtime locker room attendant with the Edmonton Oilers. This is one of my favorite photos of him I shot at the 2016 NHL Heritage Classic.

The first time I met Joey was in 2005. He was easily one of the most conscientious, hard working guys I've ever had the privilege of meeting. I remember shooting a 360 degree virtual tour for the Edmonton Oilers hockey club. We were in the dressing room setting up the shot and Joey was always working away with big smile on his face. Now back in the day, to shoot a high-resolution spherical panoramic image we would have to keep the camera on special tripod and basically take dozens of images all around us and then stitch them together later. We had to keep everything the very still. I remember very vividly how Joey would pop out in the middle of the shoot and start vacuuming a stall. He would make me laugh. 😄 It would be an incentive for me to work faster to get my shot finished before he returned to continue vacuuming the room. Classic Joey, loved him!

To my fellow Edmontonian friends, let's take a moment to remember this iconic legend and local hero. The smile on his face was contagious and after you met Joey, you'd be smiling too!
