Per Jamaal Magloire Foundation: 
Canadian basketball legend, Jamaal Magloire held his charity’s signature fundraising event ‘Hollywood Glamour’ in late February at the historic and elegant Casa Loma. “When I started my foundation back in 2017, it was built on the guiding principle that ALL kids deserve a chance to dream,” said the Jamaal Magloire Foundation Founder. “But the harsh reality is that many underrepresented kids, right here in the GTA, don’t have even the basics, like healthy breakfasts, school supplies and computers for their education, access to organized sports and arts programs, mentors, community leaders, or financial support to pursue their post-secondary dreams. 

My foundation is in the community, making transformational change by delivering more than 12 programs and scholarships for youth over the past nine years.”

Special guests in attendance included fellow Canadian sports legend and soccer icon, Dwayne DeRosario, Scarborough Shooting Stars Owner, Sam Ibrahim, and Scarborough’s very own, The Honourable Andrea Hazell, MPP Scarborough Guildwood and Deputy Chair of the Committee of the Whole House and Second Vice-Chair, Standing Committee on Social Policy.

Magloire truly leads by example and with excellence, inspiring the next generation as a basketball role model and mentor connecting with vital community partners, like Project Excellence. 

This long-standing foundation partner delivers organized basketball programming in Scarborough, providing a safe and nurturing space for youth basketball development. Gala guests met Project Excellence’s home-grown rising star, Tristan Edwards. 

This 15-year-old NCAA D1 top prospect made a special trip back to Toronto from his prep school in Virginia for
Jamaal’s big night.
