Last Wednesday, more than 150 women gathered inside Hearst Tower to see women build with AI.

We hosted our 2nd AI for Social Good Hackathon in NYC with hearstlab.us, supported by openai, with presentations powered by meetgamma.

25 women spent the day building AI tools for social good using OpenAI Codex.

By the afternoon, they were presenting to a packed theater of founders, investors, operators, and content creators.

🥇CivicPulse won first place for building a civic bill-tracking platform designed to make local government more accessible, transparent, and actionable, winning $10,000 in OpenAI API credits and 1 year of Gamma Pro.

🥈enerME took second for building an AI-powered energy analytics dashboard that helps households understand their usage, detect spikes, and forecast future consumption.

🥉Sonder placed third for building a platform to improve post-discharge follow-up for non-English speakers in the U.S.

This is what happens when women are given the room, the tools, and the belief to build.

For me, the moment carried extra weight.

I moved to New York as a teenager to model and then attended NYU.

I remember walking through Midtown for the first time, looking up at buildings like Hearst Tower and feeling like they belonged to a world so different than I was used to.

Last Wednesday, I was standing inside one of them, hosting a room full of women builders, founders, and future leaders in AI.

That did not happen because I figured it out alone.

It happened because women opened doors for me.

This event was one small way of opening a door for others. 💜

That is why I built ruthapp.ai

And after seeing what happened in that room, I believe in that mission even more.

Thank you to every builder, partner, judge, speaker, and supporter who helped make this possible.

If you believe women should be shaping the future of AI, share this so more women can see what is possible.
