Meet Dr. Heather Straub, a proud mom, who is currently nursing her baby, Anne, at 13 months. 👶🥰⁣
⁣
“Being a new mom and going back to work is a physical and emotional roller coaster. One of the ways I’ve found to remain connected to both of my daughters is breastfeeding and pumping milk for them while at work.⁣
⁣
As a clinical MFM (Maternal-Fetal Medicine), a lot of the women I see postpartum have preterm delivery where I often can share pumping tricks, tips, and milk supply support issues that I have found helpful in my own experience.⁣
⁣
I was about 20 weeks pregnant with Anne when COVID-19 hit, so being able to help support her immune system through her first year and beyond with antibodies after my COVID vaccinations have been huge. However, breastfeeding can be hard and a fed baby is best. Any breastmilk you can get into your baby is great, but it can be like a second (or third or fourth job).⁣
⁣
My advice for other moms who are currently nursing is to be kind to yourself: it is so easy to stress about your supply or getting pumping sessions fit into the day. There is no better way to start and finish a workday than a cozy nursing session with your baby.”⁣
