We were chickens at dinner tonight and it worked 😂

Not because I was trying to “get a bite” but bc I was trying to make the food feel less intimidating

When toddlers feel comfy + curious they’re way more likely to interact with food!! And sometimes that starts with something as simple as playing with it

So instead of asking for bites try making it fun, silly, or interactive 🙂‍↔️

- make the food “talk” or give it a sound (like we did with the chicken)
- connect the food to something they KNOW (“chickens eat corn too!” “piggies love beans”)
- ask to squish, poke, smell, or kiss the food (and do it with them)
- make it easier to hold or show them HOW to hold it (if the drumstick was too slippery you can wrap with a paper towel or with the corn I stuck toothpicks on the sides to hold)
- offer a sauce to dip in (like ketchup w the chicken they peeled off)
- let them help you plate it or even feed you first “ok your turn!”
- loosen up & be silly (your laughter is contagious and don’t try not to take their food refusals so personally - even tho I know it’s hard🥲)

Who knows, you might be surprised what happens 🤎

SAVE this for your next mealtime & SEND to another mama!
