1) do you think Woody Guthrie was trying to say something when he chose this apocalyptic gospel song (that the Carter Family recorded) to adapt for ‘This Land is your Land’?

2) it’s Easter and my grandma taught Sunday school and my grandpa recorded southern gospel music (and I learned to sing from them) so I’m genetically required to belt out at least one holy number today

3) Jesus was executed by Roman soldiers for advocating for the redistribution of wealth, the rights of the poor and for compassion to rule above all else. Be sure to be critical of empire today as people falsely wielding Christianity drag us into war and ruin the lives of countless innocent people. I may not be god fearing, but I detest dominance hierarchies as much as the next guy.
