Fly high, Frosted 💙🕊️

It was announced Wednesday that Frosted, a Godolphin homebred and Darley America stallion, was sadly euthanized April 15 after an acute episode of laminitis. He was 14.

The fastest-ever GI Metropolitan Handicap winner earned a 123 Beyer Speed Figure with that memorable performance in 2016 and it remains the highest recorded at a mile. He set a new stakes record of 1:32.73 in the race, running away with the victory by 14 1/4 lengths. 

The fan-favorite son of Tapit also captured the GI Whitney Stakes, the GI Wood Memorial Stakes, the GII Pennsylvania Derby, and the G2 Al Maktoum Challenge Round 2. He placed in the GI Belmont Stakes, the GI Travers Stakes, and four other graded events, retiring with a record of 19-6-6-2 and earnings of $3,972,800 prior to the 2017 breeding season.

“Frosted was an exceptional and exciting racehorse and accomplished sire.”

Frosted will be buried at his long-time home, Jonabell Farm.
