Following Ye’s publicized rejection by the UK government from Wireless festival on April 7th, other countries’ governments have quickly followed suit, with government officials pressuring venues, promoters, and Ye himself to cancel shows…

On April 15th, Ye announced that his upcoming performance in Marseille, France at the Orange Velodrome would be postponed. This was thanks to French officials, including the country’s Interior Minister, Laurent Nuñez, pressure to ban Ye from performing in the country.

Additionally, as of today, Ye’s scheduled show in Chorzów, Poland, has been canceled by the venue, Slaski Stadium, as a result of pressure from the Polish government. This is obviously all a result of Ye’s past harmful statements, but this calls into question, other than the obvious art vs. artist discourse: 

Should governments play this large a role in censoring art? 🤔
