Ronald Acuña Jr. had one of the greatest seasons in baseball history in 2023. He won the National League MVP after hitting .337 with 41 home runs, 106 RBIs, and an incredible 73 stolen bases, becoming the first player ever to reach the 40–70 milestone. His combination of power, speed, and consistency made him the most dangerous leadoff hitter in the league, constantly putting pressure on pitchers from the very first pitch of the game.

During that season, Acuña was also chasing a record for most leadoff home runs in a row, showing how dominant he was at the top of the lineup. In one heated moment against the Miami Marlins where he could’ve tied the record of 4, he was hit by a pitch. This moment stood out because he was in great form and had a real chance to continue building his leadoff home run streak.

The best response came on the field. The next time he faced the Marlins, Acuña answered in the perfect way—by hitting a towering home run and immediately setting the tone. It showed not only his talent but also his mentality: when challenged, he responds with power.
