## Caption

This performance piece draws from an ancient Indian ritual practice; the application of red vegetable dye (traditionally known as alta) to the feet, reimagined here as a contemporary gesture of grounding and return. In many cultural traditions across the subcontinent, adorning the feet in red is not merely decorative; it is symbolic. The colour evokes life force, fertility, and the sacred feminine, while the act itself marks the body’s intimate contact with the earth. Like walking barefoot on the river banks, which I love to do! This piece is for Mother Earth🌏 🙏🌺❤️who is in great danger right now.

Picture of my feet adorned with alta set against river rocks from my trips.
