Vontae Davis was a standout cornerback who played ten seasons in the National Football League after being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the first round of the 2009 draft. After three seasons in Miami, he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts, where he enjoyed the most successful stretch of his career, earning two consecutive Pro Bowl selections in 2014 and 2015. Over the course of 121 career games, he recorded 22 interceptions and nearly 400 tackles. He is perhaps most famously remembered for his unconventional retirement in 2018, when he decided to leave the game permanently during halftime while playing for the Buffalo Bills, later explaining that he simply no longer felt like himself on the field.

On April 1, 2024, Davis passed away at the age of 35 in a home in Southwest Ranches, Florida. Davis left behind a significant legacy in the NFL and was the younger brother of former Pro Bowl tight end Vernon Davis.
