"I have always been fascinated by the brain, particularly how it controls our thinking and our actions. When I attended the University of Florida, I was able to pursue my interest in the brain by double majoring in psychology and neurobiology, and by conducting structural brain research in patients with schizophrenia. It was an incredible experience that connected my scientific interests with patient interactions and solidified my decision to pursue a career in medicine.

During my medical school training at the University of Florida, I tried to keep an open mind and consider all areas of medical specialty, but my love of the brain drew me to neurology. After completing my residency training in neurology at Emory University in 2004, I went into private practice in Florida. I quickly became involved in clinical research, which allowed me to be more closely connected to scientific innovation and created opportunities for my patients to participate in clinical trials, including Lilly studies for Alzheimer’s disease and migraine. After many years in clinical practice, I was approached with an opportunity to work with the U.S. Medical Affairs Migraine team, and I joined Lilly in 2018.

Now, in my role in Global Medical Affairs for Alzheimer's disease, I work to bridge the gap between our incredible scientific understanding of our existing and emerging diagnostics and therapeutics for Alzheimer’s disease and the clinicians caring for patients and their families. We are on the precipice of finally having a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease that has a meaningful impact for patients and their loved ones.

My purpose aligns with Lilly’s — to make life better for people living with Alzheimer's disease, and the people who love and care for them."
