"I've always loved the outdoors, nature, creation. 🌳🌾 When I was younger, I couldn't learn enough about every detail about the world that we lived in—it all fascinated me. Still does. In elementary school I would sit down with encyclopedias and turn page by page, from volume A to Z, to find and read about nature definitions and descriptions. 📚 I would copy down #science experiments and inventions of all kinds to keep in my personal journal. 📓 "This actually isn't my first time sending crystallization experiments to #space. 🌌 I did that back in 1994, but it was limited in that I had to carry my experiments to Lindbergh Field, and a courier would then take them to the launch site. So when the opportunity came up to be involved in this protein #crystallization project from start to finish—from designing the experiment, to watching the SpaceX rocket lift off with the experiments on board, to getting the crystals back on #Earth and creating 3-dimensional models from them—I was in! 🚀 "Having the astronauts handle my experiments on the #InternationalSpaceStation is pretty exciting. 🔬 But beyond that, there is the earnest expectation that this endeavor will give us results and success that we have been hoping for. I think the innovative spirit within Lilly definitely sets us apart.
