🚀 "My mother's enthusiasm for science has always been a huge inspiration for me. She's actually a scientist, too—she works in the Neuroscience department at Lilly. She really enjoys what she does, and that same dedication has been a powerful motivator for me. It just so happens that I have a huge passion for #science, too. 🔬 And now I am fortunate to lead one of two crystallization experiments that will be conducted on the #ISS U.S. National Laboratory. 🌌 Last year, my supervisor sent an email asking if anyone was interested in getting involved in a crystallization-in-microgravity experiment. I sheepishly said I was. It was one of the best decisions that I have ever made. I'm examining the crystallization of a medically relevant protein in #microgravity. Ultimately, this research could help discover new medications or more targeted medications to make life better for people on Earth. 🌎 Part of my #research involves pioneering a new piece of hardware for #crystallization in microgravity. I'm intrigued by the potential impact to benefit others—it may spur the development of new hardware that may make conducting crystallization experiments on the ISS U.S. National Laboratory more accessible to other researchers. This is an incredible opportunity that was made real by the work of many people, not just me.
