## Caption

One man. Sixty dollars. A stack of photos. And a director who couldn't say no.

Harry Goulding drove to Hollywood in 1938 and walked into John Ford's office with pictures of Monument Valley. He refused to leave until Ford looked. Ford looked - and moved his entire production of Stagecoach here on the spot.

That decision put this valley on every cinema screen in the world. John Wayne rode across this red earth. The Wild West, as a visual myth, was born right here.

Harry wasn't chasing glory. He was trying to save the Navajo community during the Depression. He succeeded - and the rest is movie history.

Goulding's Lodge is still standing. Still the same red cliff. Still the same view from the diner window. Still the best coffee in the American West. ☕

Go while it feels like time forgot it.

Name a Western filmed here - without Googling. 🤠
