❗️The new Ford Mustang GTD Competition just clocked a 6:40.835 lap time around the Nürburgring Nordschleife and that is insanely quick.

For context, that is over 11 seconds faster than the GTD’s previous best run, which already made it one of the fastest American cars ever around the Ring.

But here is the catch and where things get interesting for enthusiasts.

This Competition version is a pre production prototype, not a standard production car.

That means it is likely running more aggressive aero, more power, less weight, and stickier tires than what customers will get.

Still, the number is real and it puts Ford right in the fight with elite European track weapons, even undercutting recent Porsche GT3 RS Manthey lap times.

Then there is the bigger flex, the Ford GT Mk IV.

That car laid down a 6:15.977 lap, making it not just the fastest American car ever around the Ring, but one of the fastest internal combustion cars period.

So when you combine both runs, Ford now holds the two fastest Nürburgring lap times of any American automaker, which is a massive statement against brands that have historically dominated the track.

As for the Corvette rivalry, this is Ford firing back hard after Chevy briefly took the crown with the ZR1X.

Now the battle is fully on again, and it is getting aggressive.

Bottom line Ford is not just building muscle cars anymore, they are building legit Nürburgring track monsters.
