Magyar, who is set to replace Viktor Orban after 16 years in power following his historic election win earlier this month, announced his intention with a stark warning to current Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.⁣

Hungarian authorities would therefore be obliged to detain Mr Netanyahu, who has been wanted by the ICC for alleged war crimes in Gaza since November 2024, should he enter the country.⁣
