Halebidu, Karnataka

What appears decorative is, in truth, deliberate structure.
These horizontal bands are not random embellishments —
they are a carefully ordered cosmology carved in stone.

Beneath the large-scale deity sculptures, eight distinct registers unfold from bottom to top:
