I’ve been getting bullied since middle school, and if I’m being honest… parts of that have stuck with me longer than I ever expected.
I don’t think people realize how much words can shape the way you see yourself and I had to fight really hard to feel comfortable in my own skin. To feel pretty without immediately questioning it.
And social media tries so hard to bring that feeling back. Different people, same kind of comments. And sometimes it’s hard not to let that get in your head when it’s something you’ve already struggled with.
There were a lot of moments where I had to remind myself(over and over again) that my beauty is not defined by the outside world. Not by opinions, not by comments, not by whether I’m the most beautiful person in the room.
Because I’ve never felt like I was.
I’ve always loved beauty and fashion. Always. I’ve always dreamed of being in this space, but I didn’t have the confidence to put myself out there because I truly believed I wasn’t “that girl.” I didn’t think I fit what people expected someone in this space to look like.
So I held myself back for a long time.
And I still have days where those thoughts try to creep back in. I don’t think that part ever fully just disappears. But I do know now that just because something was said to me - doesn’t make it true.
And if you’re someone who’s being bullied, or constantly made to feel like you’re not enough… please don’t let that become your inner voice.
You don’t need to be the prettiest girl in the room to be worthy of being seen.�You don’t need to fit someone else’s idea of beauty to take up space.
You just have to decide that what they said about you isn’t the story you’re going to keep telling yourself anymore. #beauty #bullyingawareness #selfworth #innerbeauty #beautyfromwithin
